About Kingswood School
School Overview
Kingswood is a school like no other, with an abundance of outdoor learning space and boundless opportunities. Here we celebrate individuality and uniqueness in an unrivaled 120-acre woodland setting, overlooking the World Heritage City of Bath with access to great transport links to London and major airports.
Our welcoming, inclusive community encourages students to develop their own talents while encouraging others to do the same. Kingswood promotes confidence, open-mindedness, and tolerance along with creativity and a spirit of inquiry. Academic achievement takes place within the context of all-around personal development, and high standards are combined with a sense of responsibility and service. Our students excel on a personal level while also making a real difference in the lives of others.
Boarding Overview
Boarding is a key feature of life at Kingswood School, and our boarders (from age 11) are seen as the heartbeat of the community. Our staff are extremely experienced in looking after children, some of whom are a long way from home, and helping them settle, develop and become more independent while still feeling supported. Pupils at Kingswood come to see their boarding house as their second home.
Our Boarding Houses are all situated on our beautiful campus amidst comfortable and relaxing surroundings. Students can take advantage of our excellent facilities during the week and on weekends. There is a variety of activities for boarders to enjoy and delicious food provided by our catering team. The majority of boarders at Kingswood are full boarders and we celebrate our rich and diverse boarding community. Weekly boarding is also available, as well as flexible boarding.
Extracurricular Overview
Kingswood School believes that every individual has talents to be discovered and nurtured, with interests often becoming a lifelong passion. The provision for sport, music, and drama is outstanding and many pupils participate in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and outdoor pursuits. The School also hosts the annual Bath Schools Model United Nations conference. Our extensive co-curricular programme offers over 100 activities a week. In this environment, pupils achieve astonishing successes as they constantly progress well beyond their natural potential.
What their Students Say
“While at Kingswood I have been offered a variety of opportunities, such as my role as a Westwood prefect, where I help and assist the younger years during prep time and social hours as well as attending crossing duty, to ensure the safety of younger years when crossing the road. I am also a member of two diversity groups, the Black Students of Kingswood, and the Neurodiverse committee. Kingswood has given me the opportunity to volunteer by talking in the chapel, providing tours and working with younger years.”
“Sending my daughter and son overseas to boarding school from Kenya was not an easy decision. They had never boarded before. Their happiness and well-being was my biggest concern. I wanted high-level pastoral care and opportunities for strong holistic growth, with a keen emphasis on EQ as much as IQ. Kingswood School has excelled. For both children, analytical skills, self-awareness, self-regulation, and overall attainment have flourished.
As parents, we are impressed by the all-around individual attention shown to our daughter and son at Kingswood. Their respective tutors as well as the House Parents in both Fonthill and Hall House are outstanding. Our children are thriving socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.”
