About Leighton Park School

School Overview
Leighton Park was founded in 1890 and is a day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of beautiful parkland in Reading, Berkshire. Winner of the Best Co-educational School 2021, South East England, the School has been fully co-ed since 1993 and has a 50:50 ratio of girls to boys at its Year 7 entry point.
The UK Government’s latest Sixth Form league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire. Our A-level students achieved 72% A*/A last year. The Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) awarded Leighton Park a double excellent standard in January 2022, the highest possible attainment for an independent school.
Boarding Overview
There are three boarding houses, one co-educational junior boarding house for 11 and 12-year-olds, one senior girl’s boarding house, and one senior boarding house for boys.
The boarding houses are located on the School grounds, a short walk from the academic buildings, sports facilities, and school restaurant.
Our boarding students live with five of their teachers, providing valuable support when they are doing their homework. We have 44 countries represented at the School with 50% English boarders and 50% international borders.
Extracurricular Overview
Over 90 hobbies in eight zones ensure that our extensive co-curricular programme offers something for everyone. Discover, explore, develop, and inspire as you join existing friends and make new ones through your choices. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is fully supported through the co-curricular programme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

What their Students Say

“One of the things that make Leighton Park so special is the level of individual attention it affords its students, allowing everyone the opportunity to thrive and develop into a better person along the way. I will always be grateful for the values I developed, the wide range of experiences I had, and the friendships I made during my time at Leighton Park.”

“LP has really opened new perspectives for me as it’s such an international and inclusive community. Relationships with peers and teachers based on values of respect and equality has given me courage and confidence to interact with the wider world.  I’m grateful for spending the most important five years in LP.”
