About Sherfield School

School Overview

Sherfield School is a leading co-educational independent day and boarding school for children aged 3 months to 18 years.

Occupying over 76 acres of stunning parkland in Sherfield-on-Loddon in Hampshire, we enjoy modern classrooms and facilities in a beautiful manor house dating back to the 12th century.

Sherfield students are passionate, ambitious, enterprising and innovative problem solvers. They develop in confidence, resilience and resourcefulness, growing strong, self-assured and motivated by each Sherfield experience.

As a school, we inspire and support each other; together we share a powerful culture of creativity without boundaries. We are critical thinkers who challenge ideas, pave new paths and encourage inventiveness.

Our close, friendly, caring community ensures each pupil has a vital role to play in the school, living out our core values of confidence, creativity and connection in all aspects of school life.

Boarding Overview

Sherfield offers full boarding, weekly and flexi boarding options. We have one mixed house which is modern and purpose built.

Boarders at Sherfield enjoy a busy, varied, fun and educational schedule of activities on weekends.

On Friday evenings, the Boarding House Prefects take in turns to organise a competitive activity between their respective teams in the sports hall. Although these are competitive they are mostly a chance for the boarders to enjoy some productive time together and to have some fun on a Friday evening, when there is often a trip to the local leisure centre. Films, swimming, ice skating and bowling may also be possible.

Throughout the year, the boarders enjoy regular Saturday trips which include leisure activities like go-karting and theme park trips as well as cultural and educational visits to places such as the Natural History Museum and Windsor Castle. In the summer term, extra academic lessons are also scheduled for pupils as part of the preparation for their exams and courses.

On Sundays, the boarders have use of school facilities and take part in games. Brunch and dinner are available and there is usually transport to either Basingstoke or Reading.

Extracurricular Overview

Students are taught by passionate, knowledgeable and committed teachers in a stimulating learning environment.

They achieve outstanding academic, sports and art results. Pupils are encouraged to develop skills and the character to set them apart.

Drama at Sherfield engages and encourages the creativity and analytical skills of pupils to become confident performers and designers.

Whichever option students choose they can be sure they will gather many invaluable skills, both theatrical and transferable, to expand their horizons.

Currently, on-site sporting facilities at Sherfield include grass junior and senior football pitches, a grass cricket pitch, grass athletics and rugby field, two blocks of netball/tennis courts, a recently refurbished sports hall and new state-of-the-art 3G all-weather pitch.

Year 8 Boarding Parent

“My son is able to relate with his teachers concerning his academics. The teachers also give timely feedback to parents. The input from my son’s teachers have been second to none. Our son is making progress in his studies. As a boarding student, we have nothing to worry about his well-being. Each time we have the opportunity to visit the school, we see a great team spirit among all staff. The boarding house staff are doing a marvelous job of parenting so many students from virtually all over the world. I recommend Sherfield School 100% anytime. Long live Sherfield School.”
